Women in Song is a trio consisting of Lois O’Hanley Jones, Debbie Rivard, and Patty Dunlop. Based in Blind River, Ontario, the three retired musicians realized a lifelong dream during the pandemic by recording their debut album, featuring 13 original songs. Together for over 20 years, they have raised more than $20,000 for local charities through their music.
Their debut single, But I Knew Her When, is a deeply personal song about Alzheimer’s disease. It was inspired by Patty’s mother, who passed away from the illness, and by Lois’s experience as a primary caregiver to her mother, who is in the final stages of the disease. The song has resonated strongly with audiences for its honesty and emotional depth.
Women in Song write about family, life experiences, and themes that many people can relate to. In their sixties, they have proudly checked a meaningful milestone off their bucket list. Their debut album, Life of a Woman, has been described by listeners as an homage to women and a source of joy.
